Team

Amanda Peterson, Administrator

I started at Centerville Care and Rehab in August 2021 and graduated from USD summer of 2022 with a degree in Business Administration. I had lived in Sioux Falls for the last ten years and recently moved to Beresford with my daughter. I have been in the healthcare industry for about fifteen years and am excited to be in a long-term care facility. Centerville is an amazing community and has been so welcoming. I am grateful to be a part of a family orientated facility with a dedicated team. When I am not working, I enjoy the outdoors, camping, fishing, and gardening. Now that I have finished school, I look forward to spending more time with family and traveling.

Patricia Knutson, Director of Nursing
Patty has been employed at the facility since September 1997. At initial employment, she worked as a day shift charge nurse until 2007. At that time, she became the MDS Coordinator and monitored both inpatient and outpatient scheduling and ongoing progress. On January 1, 2011, she became the Director of Nursing and continued as the MDS Coordinator/Restorative Coordinator. Recently the facility hired a full time MDS Coordinator allowing Patty to focus solely on the Director of Nursing position. She resides in Centerville with her husband Kendell. They have four boys and four granddaughters who she loves spending time with. She also enjoys gardening.

                              Lori Hecht, Business Office Manager
I began working at Centerville Care and Rehab in November of 2014. I worked as Business Office Manager at Fellowship Village in Inwood, Iowa, and Bethesda of Beresford prior to joining the CCRC team. Kevin and I live on an acreage south of Centerville. I enjoy camping, reading, playing cards and board games. My favorite pastime is spending time with my family, especially my beautiful grandchildren!

Kristen Birgen, Social Services

I started working at the facility when it was formerly Good Samaritan Society-Centerville in 1997 as a dietary assistant.  I became the Dietary Manager in the fall of 2004 until 2015.  I stayed on PRN and returned full time to the facility as Social Services Director in 2018.  One thing I have always enjoyed about working at Centerville Care and Rehab is that it is a family oriented atmosphere.  I live in Centerville with my husband Greg and our children Landon and Emma.  When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling, camping, and spending time with friends and family

Katie Larson, Activities Director

I have been employed at CCRC since 2017. I started part-time in dietary until 2020 when I accepted the Activity Director position. Before working at CCRC, I was employed at an Independent Living Facility for 13 years, I was the Resident Service Coordinator. I was in charge of Move in/Move outs, Section 8 HUD, as well as activities. I have a passion for enriching senior citizen’s lives through musical activities such as rhythm band, karaoke, sing-alongs and a lot of musical entertainment. I love to take them to different places such as museums, bowling, state parks, golfing, fishing, country drives and trailer rides around town. I also love to play games both outdoors and indoors with the residents, even creating a slip and slide safe for them to ride on.

I grew up in Beresford and currently live in the country outside of Centerville with my boyfriend Cory, daughter Taelyn and our labs Bruno and Zues. Bruno has become part of the activity staff. When not entertaining the residents, you will find me with family and friends camping, traveling and playing cards.

Ron Carlson, Environmental Services
Ron has been employed at Centerville Care and Rehab since August 2019.  Ron was born and raised in the Centerville area.  While in the Army he met and moved with his wife, Ann.  They have three sons.  Upon returning from the Army he attended Junior College and attained his Associates of Arts degree.  He is happy to have the opportunity to work in his home community.

Christen Trissel, Dietary Manager

I grew up in Indiana and about 12 years ago decided to move to South Dakota. I have four children. Two of my children live in Indiana, one is in Oklahoma, and the youngest is living with me. I previously worked at Wakonda Heritage Manor as a cook and then as a CNA.  I decided I wanted a change and came to Centerville Care and Rehab. I currently reside in Irene.
